Jakub Syty

Technical Team Lead at Euvic S.A.

I’m a pragmatic and flexible software engineer with extensive experience in software architecture, backend systems, and mobile technologies.

A passionate supporter of open source, I frequently contribute my own work to the community.

While I’m always eager to learn and adopt new technologies, my core expertise lies in Android/Kotlin (mobile) and .NET (backend and tooling).

As a Technical Team Lead, I’ve focused on improving developer experience, establishing patterns, jumpstarting large projects, architecting solutions, and mentoring other developers.

Distributed financial platform (client undisclosed)

Software Architect, Lead Backend Developer, and Technical Team Lead
– Present

I was part of a large team rebuilding a massive financial platform, transforming it from a monolithic, single-database design into a microservices architecture. The system comprises over 30 microservices and includes a complex framework to address scalability, availability, and data consistency challenges. It is designed to be highly configurable and extendable, with the ability to be deployed in the cloud or on-premises and built upon by customers.

  • ASP.NET microservices with an internal gRPC communication layer and REST facades

  • Microfrontend architecture to support thousands of frontend applications

  • Multiple abstractions over external systems (message brokers, databases, container orchestrators) to enable different configurations for various customers

  • Over 20 microservices

  • 1,5 mln lines of code

  • Extensive set of libraries for both internal and external use (aka. Framework)

  • Focus on improving developer experience by creating a comprehensive set of reusable libraries

  • Designed project patterns to be easily understood and applied by AI agents

  • Backend
  • .NET
  • Microservices
  • Kubernetes

Microbe

Software Architect, Lead Backend Developer, and Technical Team Lead
– Present

Distributed music recognition backend - Designed, developed and maintained a system for continuous music recognition from 100+ radio and TV streams. Built real-time monitoring (React.js, SignalR, Akka.NET), a custom LMDB-based fingerprinting database (100k+ samples), and a C#-optimized Echoprint algorithm. Delivered supporting administration and track delivery tools.

  • Continous process of over 100 radio and TV streams

  • High-Availability setup

  • Extensive tooling around samples and data management

  • Low-level C# optimizations

  • Custom LMDB-based database for samples

  • .NET
  • Backend

I worked two years with Jakub while at Kiru, a period during which we built a payroll platform from an empty AWS account into a multi-microservice cloud of services with web and mobile front-ends. Jakub was nominally focused on the Android and Huawei mobile apps, but he oversaw the mobile team generally (including iOS), as well as contributed extensively to the backend.

Jakub is not the kind of developer to just do what is written down on (digital) paper. He understands the business and architecture goals, and pushes back on areas where he feels essential details are missed. He makes recommendations and defends them with calm and logical justifications, resulting in a product that is much better for his efforts.

Jakub is the Swiss army knife of developers, capable of contributing to and improving all parts of a complex cloud system. I highly recommend him, and hope to work with him again in future. (https://www.linkedin.com/in/jakub-syty/details/recommendations/)
